Automation and testing

Start the REST service

Open Tools > REST API or click REST API in the Labs toolbar. Enter a bind address and port, then click Start. The desktop defaults to 0.0.0.0 and TCP port 18080. Local clients connect to http://127.0.0.1:18080; LAN clients use the simulator computer's LAN IP address. No private token or Authorization header is required.

Select Start with application to remember automatic startup. Click Stop to stop REST without stopping the agents. The desktop and its embedded Java web server share the same labs, saved scenarios and results.

For a separate headless service, run the following from the installation directory. Supply your signed simulator license and a separate writable workspace. Headless mode defaults to loopback unless --bind is specified. HTTPS is optional.

bin/simulator-server --workspace automation-demo/api-workspace \
  --license-file /absolute/path/to/license.dat --bind 0.0.0.0 --port 18080

curl http://127.0.0.1:18080/health/ready

On Windows, use bin/simulator-server.cmd. The direct Java entry point is com.ireasoning.simulator.cli.SimulatorMain server, using the same options. The management API is under /api/v1.
