Control agent state
Action | Effect |
start | Starts stopped agents; also resumes paused agents. |
stop | Stops the selected agents. Stopping the whole lab cancels its running scenario. |
pause | Freezes selected agent clocks, playback, thresholds, and scheduled traps. Lab pause also freezes the scenario timeline. |
resume | Continues from the paused point without catching up the elapsed wall time. |
reset | Ends a running scenario, clears overrides and faults, restores the imported baseline, and leaves agents stopped. |
While paused, UDP listeners remain open and GET requests return frozen values. SET requests and management changes to agent state are rejected. Existing fault conditions remain active, so an agent paused during an outage still suppresses packets. Stop and reset retain reports; deleting a lab removes its stored reports. Export reports before deletion.
In the desktop, right-click an agent and choose Pause Agent. Choose Start Agent to resume it. Stop Agent stops it. The scenario, override, fault, and report controls described below use the automation interfaces; they are not additional desktop menu items.
For REST lifecycle commands, use scope="lab" to apply an action to the whole lab. Use scope="agents" with agentIds to select agents. API-created labs initially contain stopped agents; their project initialState does not start them. The existing runSimulator project launcher continues to honor initialState.
